Oh yes, the Invasion, or something like that… Those were 2 hours I am not getting back, ever… One would think that Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig in the cast would make the movie watching experience worthwhile, but… no.The movie, redone again and again, based (loosely) on the novel/ideas of Mainwaring tells a story of a mysterious, infectious and apparently intelligent virus-like particle that by chance falls down upon Earth and is immediately able to specifically target and reprogram the human DNA… The particle laughs at any other forms of life on earth and only goes after the most advanced and, clearly, the easiest to… snatch. The movie could contain a powerful metaphysical and philosophical message of what would happen to Earth and “Earthians” if the core of what makes us human (i.e. our tempers) was somehow tamed and removed, replaced by complaisant and agreeable selves, united into one with other inhabitants of the Earth…The movie had also a potential to be a powerful allegory of a strong mother desperately trying to save her beloved child from various dangers…What the movie actually was, was a strange mix of the zombies from The Night of the Living Dead, the sense of elusive adversary from The Thing and general idea of global doom from Biohazard… Except It wasn’t too suspense-ful, nor scary, nor engaging, nor had it Milla Jovovich in it …The plot was rather choppy, the premises were murky, the outcome: random, the point: missing and, overall, one was left with a feeling of wonder: “huh?”Where have all the good movies gone?
